Job Description
Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team based in London (although the role will initially be home-based during Covid-19 restrictions). You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25-30k per annum.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Community Engagement Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering Human Appeal's community engagement strategy, including overseeing the management of local community engagement offices in London and establishing relationships with local community groups in order to generate income and promote Human Appeal within the Islamic community in London. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Community Engagement Coordinator:

- Ensure the day to day staffing and operational running of London's community engagement office

- Plan, deliver and oversee various engaging, grassroots, local community fundraising projects and activities

- Manage and nurture a network of local volunteers in line with HA's volunteering processes and in collaboration with the Volunteers Management team

- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, colleges, mosques and other community groups with whom we can co-produce projects which interest and involve our donors and volunteers

- Networking with other relevant agencies to ensure that HA is at the forefront of relevant community services locally

- Create reports on engagement activities, including insights that illustrate the business impact of the community and the success of HA's community engagement programme

- To work towards annual, quarterly and monthly income generation targets for the with a view to achieving a year-on-year increase in income generation via community engagement activities in London

- Provide effective training, development and line-management of Community Engagement Officer(s)

What we're looking for in our Community Engagement Coordinator:

- Minimum GCSE C in English and Mathematics. Ideally educated to Degree level, or qualified by experience

- At least 3 years of experience working in a relevant Fundraising, Sales, Networking or Community Engagement role

- At least 3 years of demonstrable experience of achieving income generation targets of £200k

- Demonstrable experience of building a network of working relationships within the local community - either volunteers, school, or religious groups

- Computer literate, particularly in MS Office Suite and Donor Management systems, e.g. Salesforce

- Fluent English is essential. Additional languages, e.g. Arabic, Urdu are desirable

- Passionate and knowledge about the international development sector
