Part of an international petrochemical and specialty chemical group, our client is a market leading £multi-million polymer compounder with a diverse customer base. As part of their strategy for growth, the company is seeking a Technical Manager who will enjoy working in an autonomous business that has an entrepreneurial, visionary and hands-on culture where there is an opportunity to make a real difference.
·To lead the development and maintenance of the product portfolio. This directly impacts delivery of the company's commercial strategy which delivers growth targets and meets the needs of the broad customer base.
·The role is key to sales growth and customer satisfaction. The market is dynamic and their customers are able to move to competitors readily. Opportunities must be sought for new markets, new products and meeting customers' changing requirements as well as regulatory requirements.
·Develop and deliver the technical strategy, in line with the commercial strategy for the business to achieve growth and margin targets.
·Ensure technical development plans are in place to secure sales opportunities developed by the Sales teams. Including support for projects across sites in the group.
·Manage the product portfolio in order to minimize complexity and ensure customer satisfaction.
·Manage the raw material portfolio to reduce complexity and introduce new technical properties.
·Deliver long-term product performance results and application testing to support Commercial objectives.
·Support the production units in terms of product implementation, customer complaint resolution and troubleshooting.
·Responsibility for all laboratories, equipment and people within the Technical department.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
·Educated to degree level with a minimum of five years technical experience in the polymer compounds industry.
·Good business sense with ability to think strategically as well as influence Senior Management to achieve agreement towards business strategies.
·Strong leadership and people management skills.
·Experience in prioritising projects and workload for self and others.
·Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building.
