Job Description
We are adding a talented Manual Machinist to our team. We have been a major part of machining for the aerospace and heavy equipment industries in the heart of the SODO area for decades. We provide prototyping and one off machining for our customers and need to add a skilled manual machinist to our team. This manual machinist will have the opportunity to work independently on highly precise parts that are going to find their way onto some of the most high tech equipment in the world and beyond. We have an environment that encourages career and personal growth and can boast that most of our machinists have been here a long time and plan to retire here.

As a Manual Machinist at MI you will:
  • Set up and run prototype parts and tooling on conventional machine shop equipment (mostly lathes, some mills)
  • Read, interpret and follow blueprints to determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths
  • Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards, using in process inspection tools and devices
  • Bring ideas to the team to improve efficiency and get the work down fast and accurately
The Qualified Candidate will:
  • Bring at least 5-7 years of manual machining expertise from a job shop, prototype environment
  • Have the ability to work within very tight tolerance (+/ .0001)
  • Demonstrate a strong aptitude in math
  • Be able to interpret machine prints, geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
  • Have expertise to work with both mills and lathes
  • Bringing some CNC knowledge would be a plus
