Job Summary
The Director of Philanthropic Analytics and Reporting provides leadership and strategic vision for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Data and Systems Management team, serving as the resident expert and leading authority on related systems, data, and reporting. Working closely with the department's executive team, development officers, campaign management team, Constituent and External Relations unit, Engagement and Participation unit, and other colleagues in Advancement Services core leadership roles, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting all fundraising programs and engagement efforts by managing the planning, design, execution, and communication of a comprehensive data and information systems strategy to help grow the institution's base of support, drive pipeline growth, and realize operational efficiencies.
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in related field and ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in data analytics/reporting and managing a technical team and related infrastructure. Expert understanding of data and statistical analysis software, data visualization tools, and report writing software, and proven ability to organize and interpret complex data sets and utilize analytic techniques and platforms. Successful experience implementing policies and best practice procedures in a complex, matrixed fundraising environment. Knowledge of The Raiser's Edge fundraising software a plus. Advanced degree preferred.
Job Duties
Collaborates with DAR executive team to set priorities for Data and Systems Management in alignment with overall strategic priorities for the institution and department
Provides leadership and strategic vision for the Data and Systems Management unit with an emphasis on robust information technology solutions, strong data management and analysis structures, and sophisticated reporting capabilities and deliverables
Manages the planning, design, execution, and communication of a comprehensive data and information systems strategy to help grow the institution's base of support, optimize donor pipelines, and realize operational efficiencies
Oversees daily operations of the Data and Systems Management unit, successfully leading a dynamic team, ensuring proper protocols and controls are in place for safeguarding data and technology assets, managing overall workflow related to systems administration, data requests fulfillment, and report delivery, and ensuring the integrity and quality of all data analyses and reporting output
Ensures adequate support and systems are in place to gather, analyze, and produce meaningful data and functional reports to assist in forecasting and predictive modeling, identify trends, and show overall impact and performance
Develops and implements best practices related to data and systems management - proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes and increase accuracy and efficiency, and establishing, documenting, and updating related policies and procedures, as necessary
Collaborates with DAR executive team, development officers, Gift Administration unit, Prospect Development unit, and other colleagues to ensure a culture of analytics that highlights and embraces the power of data and its ability to support and inform decision-making
Promotes best practices in gathering, storing, and maintaining data, and delivers customized information and analyses that contribute to building quality relationships with prospective donors and strengthening relationships and connections between UT Southwestern and current donors and alumni
Serves as a strategic partner and internal consultant to fundraising programs and colleagues across the department and institution, providing evaluative and consultative services, as needed
Serves actively as a member of The University of Texas System Office of External Relations Systems Workgroup and DAR Advancement Services core leadership team
Ensures a service-oriented Data and Systems Management team that is responsive to user needs across the department and institution

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Work requires:
Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of information, and the ability to leverage a wide array of systems, tools, and solutions that support sophisticated data and systems management to enhance fundraising efforts, grow the donor base, and increase philanthropic support;
Demonstrated success in project management and ability to influence and drive consensus;
Ability to maintain confidentiality of constituent and financial information; incumbent must maintain and exhibit the highest standards of ethical conduct;
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent follow through and attention to detail; and
Ability to work under the pressure of time and frequent requests from multiple sources, each having their own timelines and constraints.
