Job Description

Fund Accounting is a division of Northern Trust's Global Fund Services (GFS) Fund Administration group located in Chicago & Tempe. The team is responsible for delivering daily valuation, accounting and administration services to Northern Trust's GFS clients.

Primary Duties:

  • Calculate and deliver timely and accurate net asset values on complex fund structures.
  • Ensure all fund transactions are properly recorded to accounting system
  • Run daily valuation audits
  • Research and resolve cash and security reconciliations to custodian bank using Bloomberg and other resources
  • Investigate and resolve cash/position exceptions and tolerance breaches
  • Apply accounting and finance principals to numerous investment instruments
  • Evaluate income and expense accruals
  • Deliver valuation reports to client
  • Successful candidates can work independently and as a part of a team with professionals from all levels
  • Multi task in a fast paced environment
  • First point of reference for day-to-day queries, and serves as a liaison to related areas including tax and audit

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple projects and complete work in fast paced deadline driven environment.
  • Must understand accounting and financial principals
  • Displays conceptual understanding of investment instruments including, equites, fixed income, options, futures, OTC Swaps
  • Highly motivated and a self starter
  • Display flexibility in dealing with change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (or related field)
  • 1-3 years of previous Fund Administration experience preferred
