Job Description Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking an ambitious Materials and Process Engineer to join our creative team of engineers within our Mechanical Engineering Department in Grand Prairie, TX. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. This exciting work will include performing material selections, surface treatment evaluation, design and failure investigations in support of our PAC-3 program. The candidate for this Mechanical M&P Engineer position will be responsible for supporting the PAC-3 missile program, 500 rate production. The engineer will be an integral part of defining material selection and surface treatments for the product and suppliers products. The engineer will be involved in development of product specifications. The product scope of this activity may include providing guidance to new design activity as related to M&P. The candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews. Tasks also include coordination with product design, interface development, coordination with other analysis group engineers, Global Supply Chain, Production Operations, and other departments. The M&P engineer will be significantly engaged in part/component failure analyses that threaten production line stoppage and hence requires expedited and focused evaluations. The engineer will also be involved in development and release of engineering drawings and documents while using PLM. The position requires strong technical skills in a fast-paced environment. The PAC-3 system is a premier hit-to-kill air and missile defense system. Basic Qualifications: Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance. Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-site as needed for assignments. Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Material Science or other related field with 2 years of professional experience Experience with material selection Familiarity with material testing and material testing processes. Familiarity with environment specifications and evaluating materials based on those requirements. Desired Skills: Experience with Missile components and sub-assemblies For the PAC-3 program Experience with evaluating and developing material protection requirements and associated surface treatments Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note requirements. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material test plans, material and process reports, and potentially proposals are necessary. Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills. Familiarity with Missile programs at MFC Familiarity with Lockheed Martin M&P standards and the PLM drawing release process is a plus. Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.
