Job Description

Vice President of Foundation and Trust Services:

A faith-based global ministry in Grand Rapids is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Foundation and Trust Services to join its team. This individual will build and maintain relationships with relevant foundations and trusts; support and promote planned giving from constituents through wills, trusts, annuities, and estate planning; and coordinate with internal stakeholders for communications related to planned giving and donations.

Vice President of Foundation and Trust Services:

  • Build and maintain relationships with foundations and trusts that support the mission and vision of the ministry to fund existing and planned activities
  • Coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grants and proposals
  • Act as the primary point of contact for The Barnabas Foundation
  • Coordinate with marketing team to develop and implement communications that create awareness of planned gift options (bequests, annuities, and trusts)
  • Coordinate with marketing team to maintain regular communication with all who have contributed to the ministry, including monthly correspondence with annuitants
  • Facilitate receiving, receipting, and disposition of all non-cash donations including real estate, securities, etc.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all bequest and annuity activities, including responding to inquiries relative to planned giving and special non-cash gifts
  • Maintain close communication with executive team, finance department, and other staff in reporting of gifts received from constituents including wills, trusts, annuities, real estate, and other gifts to the ministry
  • Maintain annual state registrations for sales of annuities where required
  • Provide input and support for other ministry finance and fund investment functions
  • Facilitate registrations and involvement in the Combined Federal Campaign
  • Plan, lead, and coordinate Foundation and fund development programs
  • Contribute to oversight of the Foundation and planned giving initiatives, including budgeting, benchmarking, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform and/or coordinate personal visits with major and long-term donors across the country
  • Represent the ministry in community activities and organizations

Vice President of Foundation and Trust Services:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; master's degree or other advanced education preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in planned giving, grant development, and foundation relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and maintain confidentiality in communications
  • Strong understanding of all planned giving tools, including experience in and knowledge of estate planning (wills, trusts, and estate and gift tax laws)
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed (limited travel)
  • Strive to live a life consistent with Biblical principles and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development

Position Type: Direct Hire
