Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Elementary Education/ Elementary School with Subject Matter Specialization Endorsement, Students With Disabilities or eligibility
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
  • Ability to maintain a positive, productive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
  • Experience with EL Education preferred


EDUCATION

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment (Special Education).
  • Master's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of successful prior teaching at the applicable grade level preferred

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUPERVISES: Students, and when assigned, teacher interns and/or paraprofessionals

Work Schedule

Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the employment agreement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of content as well as educational pedagogy
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, special education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, peers, and school leaders.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Desire to embrace and engage professional learning

POSITION OVERVIEW

ECO Charter School teachers are responsible for planning and implementing our instructional program as well as effectively facilitating school-wide socio-emotional learning. Teachers work with students, families, colleagues, staff, and school leaders to achieve the ECO Charter School mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Teacher Performance Responsibilities[1]

Mastery of Knowledge and Skills

  • Ensure that curriculum, instruction, and assessments are rigorous, meaningful, and aligned with NJ state standards
  • Use assessment practices that position students as leaders of their own learning
  • Use meaningful data for both herself and students to track progress toward learning goals
  • Engage all students in daily lessons that require critical thinking about complex, worthy ideas, concepts, and problems

Character

  • Elevate student voice and leadership in classrooms and across the school
  • Make Habits of Scholarship visible across the school and in daily instruction
  • Model a schoolwide culture of respect and compassion
  • Prioritize social and emotional learning, along with academic learning across the school


High-Quality Student Work

  • Elevate student voice and leadership in classrooms and across the school
  • Use multiple methods of problem-solving, lab experiments, and student collaboration to engage students in the production of exceptional quality work
  • Connect students to the world beyond school through meaningful fieldwork, expert collaborators, research, and service-learning

Evidence of merit in the areas of curriculum/instruction, assessment/accountability, social curriculum/school culture, collaboration, collegiality, and professionalism, professional learning, parent communication, and involvement as well as other professional duties is required.
